Dream Vacation

If I could visit another place, I would visit Hawaii. For one thing, Hawaii is made out of volcanoes. It would be the perfect place to get a picture of lava. Also, in winter the temperature is seventy degrees. That is cool and nice. Even better, it is beautiful! The animals open up your eyes, and the plants are spectacular. I would love to try all the yummy foods and drinks. I love to try new things. It's like an adventure! Hawaii would be a great adventure, but I will have to save a little first.

William,

I've never been to Hawaii, either. Your parents have! Dr. Nobles has, too. If you get to go soon, will you take pictures and share them on your blog? I would like to see them.

Love,

Melly Mommy

Hi William,
I didn't know you had a blog until your mom wrote me today. I'm so glad you picked Hawaii as your Dream Vacation. Pop and I just returned last night from two weeks in Kauai - which is one of the Hawaiian Islands and is also called "the Garden Island" because of all the trees and plants [ look on a map and see how many islands make up the state of Hawaii ]. We had a wonderful time. We saw mountains that were formed from volcanoes, wonderful beaches with big crashing waves, beautiful flowers and some very interesting trees that we don't have here on the mainland. As you wrote on your blog, the weather is just perfect all year round - not below 70 degrees. This was our 2nd trip to Kauai. We have also visited the Hawaiian Island of Oahu years ago. Oahu is a much larger island and has a bigger population. I will tell you more about Oahu later. I don't think I can send pictures to your blog. I will send send a couple of pictures to your mom and she can show them to you. Love - Nana

I completely agree with you William, I would love to go to Hawaii as well! I am not sure what I would like more, the winter temperatures or the beautiful plant life. :) Although, I am a big fan of trying new foods and drinks! I hope you save enough money so that you can go one day soon!

Hawaii is on my list of top five places to visit. I've only seen what it looks like through pictures and movies. Its a true paradise.

Hi, William!

What a great job you are doing with your blog! You have chosen some good topics to write about.

I, too, would love to go to Hawaii. It is a beautiful state and a real national treasure. We are very fortunate to have so many wonderful places to visit within our own country. When I was your age we visited the giant sequoia trees in Sequoia National Park in California. There is a tree there named General Sherman. The General Sherman sequoia tree is the largest single-stemmed tree still living. It is almost 275 feet tall and 103 feet around. That would be sort of like stacking your house on top of itself 7 times! :-)

Keep up the good work!

Love, Aunt Charlotte

Hi William,
Hawaii is a beautiful state! Uncle Larry and I took your cousins: Eric, Todd, and Amy when they were just 10, 7, and 2 years old. We had a wonderful vacation.

We got to see the volcano on the island of Hawaii when it was still streaming hot lava down its sides. We were able to walk on the beach so close to the lava that we could have reached out and touched it!

We watched the lava drop off into the ocean and instantly turn to stone as it cooled in the water. It was amazing being so close!

We also explored lava tubes while we were there. These are large, hollow, cave-like structures formed within the mountain of the volcano by hot lava pouring under the top layers of cooled lava. They were so large that we felt very small when we walked through them!

I hope you get to go to Hawaii one day for your dream vacation.

Love,
Aunt Sandy
